Summer Rhythms and God’s Invitations

Summer always brings a change of rhythm. Even if our routines stay much the same, there’s a subtle shift - longer evenings, warmer days, and opportunities to pause, play, and see life a little differently.

This summer at CCBN has been full of these moments. Groups have travelled to New Wine and Refuel, enjoying challenge, encouragement, and the joy of shared worship. Many of us have had holiday breaks - stepping out of the ordinary to rest and refresh. Closer to home, there’s been community fun on Westhill, a Walk Through Philippians teaching day, baptisms, preaching workshops, and gatherings at picnics and beach huts. In Ulrome, the journey of ‘Roots’ has begun, an immersion in discipleship that is already shaping lives. And of course, the Christ Church Community Café is in the middle of a long-awaited refurbishment - possible because of faithful stewardship and Donna Brook’s steady leadership.

As I’ve looked back over these summer weeks, three things have stood out to me:

1.     God’s invitation to abide. The changed pace reminds us that life with God is not about constant activity but learning to remain in Him.

2.     God’s provision. Whether through practical resources, refreshing times away, or the generosity of His people, we’ve seen again that He provides what we need.

3.     A growing thirst for His presence. From teaching days to worship gatherings, there’s been a hunger for more of God at the centre of all we do.

I wonder what you’ve noticed this summer? Before the busyness of autumn presses in, it’s worth pausing to take stock - to celebrate what God has done and to listen for what He is calling us into next.

What has God been showing you?
