Judges 15:  12-19. Sampson was set apart for the Lord from his mother’s womb but despite this good start he was a bit of a “bad boy”

His relationship with the Lord was sort of intermittent. Sampson story is one of God using a person despite their imperfections that illustrates the sin is not stronger than destiny!

In v13 out of fear the Israelites bound Sampson up to hand him over to their Philistine overlords. We must not allow those in bondage to fear, to bind us with their cords of fear. These cords show themselves in phrases like “what will they say…” “what will they do…” “we are not allowed to….” “So and so will not like this…”

In v14 we see that having bound him they are now handing him over to the Philistines. The jubilant forces of darkness run towards a supposedly weak Sampson shouting in victory. This is the mocking voice of the demons that we so often hear in our spiritual life. However, the enemy always oversteps his mark, God will act when His people are bound and mocked.

The Spirit of the Lord came upon Sampson in power. In Ephesians 6:10 Paul tells us to be “strong in the Lord and His mighty power…” There is an anointing of the Spirit which comes upon us when we are thrust into the front line of the battle. An anointing of power will come upon all who step in and step up into conflict, this is only experienced by those who refuse to let Satan exult and laugh over the church.

Under the Spirit’s power the binding drops from Sampsons hands, the Spirit sets us free indeed! We are released to damage to Satan’s Kingdom. It’s an anointing to encounter, engage and execute the judgment of the Lord over His enemies.

We need to start asking for the bondage breaking anointing in order that we can destroy the works of the kingdom of darkness wherever we come across them in our week!
