In John chapter 4 Jesus said to His disciples that the fields were white and ready for harvest. Was this just a thing for them or is it a thing for us today?

Today the fields are white for harvest, God has prepared a huge field for us to work in. Our job is to identify our field and to go into it, not to hold back but to expect a plentiful harvest! These are very exciting times, we stand at a crossroads and God is asking us to believe for fruitfulness in our evangelism. It is time for the harvest to be gathered in. Over the years we have planted many seeds, and we have not seen much fruit but in this passage in John 4 Jesus says that the Sower and the Reaper will rejoice together.

Sometimes in the past we have sown, in this season we are called to reap.

God has given us all sorts of different gifts. Some of us are more Apostolic in that we see plans for the future, lay foundations and pioneer. Others of us are more Prophetic in that we are concerned about heaven’s perspective; we speak to our culture, calling out the gold that God has placed in it. Some of us are Evangelists - evangelistic people are signposts, they open doors, they are invitational people whose hearts are open and wide to those who at the moment are outside of the church. Some of us are Pastors. We are concerned to raise the bar of holiness and freedom amongst the people of God. Some of us are Teachers; our job is to stop the epidemic of ignorance that so often cripples and inhibits the mission of the people of God.

Whatever gifting God has given us, we can deploy it as either a Sower or a Reaper in the Father’s harvest field in this season. What is your field? What is the harvest God wants you to gather? How are you going to go about it in the coming months?
