Hearing God’s Voice

John 10:2-5 and 27

When Paul spoke to the Corinthians he said that they had turned from "dumb idols to the living God" the inference being:

That the God they now worship is able to speak.

The phrase "and God said" occurs 25 times in Scripture. The phrase "the Holy Spirit said” occurs 14 times and " the Lord said” occurs 196 times!

In Acts 15 during the Council of Jerusalem the apostles said "it seems good to us and the Holy Spirit..." they were aware of God interacting with them to change what they thought!

The Father speaks to us in the areas of:

Invitation, intimacy and instruction.

We are all given spiritual antennas that we need to switch on, tune in and download what God is saying to us.

In order to do this we must:

Firstly, silence the loud voice of self. What I want must be submitted to what He wants.

Secondly, we must silence the confusing voice of Satan.

Thirdly, we need to say speak Lord your servant is listen, this has the effect of amplifying the small still voice of God so we can hear Him clearly.

To get to where we need to be as a Church, we all need the clear voice of God encouraging and directing us.
